| tfson's Full Review: Gateway™ Digital BA735 |
The Boston Acoustics BA735 digital speaker system is a fine addition to any computer system for those not really looking for a huge wall thumping powerhouse. For those who are just looking for a small 2.1 system that can deliver smooth crisp bass with a dynamic high range, this is a good buy even today.
The drawback is that you will need a sound card that has digital output capability such as a Soundblaster 5.1 or above because the BA735 is not analog capable. This is a DIGITAL speaker system ONLY.
The two orbits which sport the volume and treble controls send out a fine high range but you may find the plastic legs that snap on under each one a pain if you happen to jar your orbit speakers a bit as they are prone to fall off. No matter, they go right back on with ease.
The sub-woofer provides very true and rich bass to all music genres and I'm sure you will find this to be true if you own any of the 24bit Creative Sound cards. The two combined offer studio quality sound and adequate power output, not real loud, but enough to please. The orbits and sub-woofer do not appear to cause any monitor warble when placed close together so that's a plus.
All this being said, if you need a decent digital 2.1 computer speaker system that won't take up much space and deliver quality sound, give the BA735 a try. This speaker system will not disappoint you.
