Pros: Very easy setup, clear sound, deep bass, loud volume, speaker controls for volume and bass.
Cons: No longer super "stylish" looking, not a lot of bells and whistles.
The Bottom Line: Good speakers for someone who wants to turn their computer into a (DURABLE) stereo system, and for the price it's guaranteed to satisfy.

INTRO: After more than five years and at least four moves, I recently bought a new computer that came with crappy speakers, so I dug these out of my basement and hooked them up. To my surprise, they still work so perfectly I had to write this review!
HOW DOES THE UNIT LOOK?
While pictures tell the story here, I would point out that these things no longer look "fancy". But they do not look outdated. Also, it's important to keep in mind that, for the amount of sound you get out of these, the size of the speakers is relatively small. Even today, there are few speakers this size that put out the quality and volume of sound that the two side speakers put out.

The GOOD: Sound, Sound SOUND! For a 2.1 system, this unit will completely fill the largest bedroom/office, and spill out into the rest of the house a plenty. The small side speakers have excellent high and mid-range sound. They are not tinny at all. I especially like how accoustic guitar sounds with these speakers. When I lay on my bed and listen, it's not hard to imagine the musician being in the room with me! The subwoofer is capable of hitting the full range of bass, and is very deep and strong. It enhances all sounds on your computer, from the windows startup, to the crappy hearts game, to first-person shooter games and beyond. When I was in college, I would often load a playlist of mp3s on my computer and let these speakers DJ for parties in my apartment from back in my bedroom...they are that loud.
The BAD: I've already mentioned that the looks of these units are not the best. I might also point out that these speakers are not really truly iPod compatible. But if you're hooking these up to your computer, that's not going to be a big deal.
The UGLY: I try to be as objective as possible and really think of what would be a deal breaker for prospective buyers. For these speakers, there is no deal breaker, unless you are wanting a feature (iPod connectivity) or something that the unit simply doesn't have. But if you're wondering whether these things hold up to what they claim, they will.
Lastly, I would tout these speaker's durability. As mentioned, these speakers have moved with me several times over the years. Sometimes they were used heavily for months, sometimes they went months without use. As of today, they sound the same as when I bought them. Today, it is rare to find electronics that hold up for more than a couple years, so I think this is worth noting.
