Pros: Digital and analog inputs, plays fairly loud with low distortion, solid construction for the price.
Cons: A little light in balance in the lower midrange and at the extreme top end.
The Bottom Line: For clean rich sound at a fair price look no further than the BA 790's. Definitely put them on your shopping list.

| dargentini's Full Review: Boston Acoustics BA790 2 Speakers |
Knowing Boston Acoustics has a reputation as a quality audio speaker manufacturer, I bought the BA 790 system at BestBuy after listening to the under $100 2.1 competition. The sound was both clean and loud and the bass was full considering the small size.
I wanted a digital input so the $79 price was not too much to pay and the digital sound was indeed better than the same source through the analog inputs. The bass control on the right speaker is all that is needed to control the low end to balance classical, rock, or game music sources. I enjoy the generally well balanced sound from the 790's (better than most) and find that I can listen to them for long periods without fatigue. Some minor issues with the sound balance have to do with a lightness in the lower midrange and in the extreme treble but not to any great degree. I've heard many speakers with a very poor blend between the sats and the sub and poor frequency balance overall. Not so the 790's. If you want over the top treble and thumpy bass go somewhere else.
Overall this is a fine value system for the performance you get from a package this diminutive. It's easy to setup with its color coded cables and very well designed and executed for its price point.
