I was very impressed by this subwoofer!
I had gone through a few subwoofers and even returned one. The ones that i had compared were the Energy S8.2, Klipsch KSW-10, and the PSB 10incher.. im not sure of the model of that one. This one blew the others away!.. i was amazed.
This subwoofer hit the 25hz level and with authority. It actually did better in tightness and deepness than some 12's that i had her, such as the KSW-12 from Klipsch.
I had actually wanted an 8 inch sub because i wanted somethign small for my apartment. I picked up the PSB, and it was rather large, but the salesperson (who is also a good friend) suggested it as it was cheaper than the Encore 8. So i popped the PSB in, and tried it. not bad, but the fact that the controls were at the back bothered me. I like the controls in the front, and the Encore 8 has 'em, and they look pretty cool too!
There's a little switch that u can change from listening to music and movies... the movies mode is a little boomier and louder, it seems. This 150-watt powered 8 inch just DESTROYED the psb 60-watt 10 inch sub. The sound quality is so much better. I was listening to some bass guitars on this thing and it was tight, fast, and immaculate. Its more expensive than most consumer-level subs in the 8-inch category, but i think its probably one of the best. I also own an S8.2, which is now in my parents house, as i gave it to them. The S8.2 is a good sub for the price, but power and depth, the encore 8 is wonderful.. and small.
A tiny package and a wonderfully deep rhythmic bass impress me immensly. I would definately recommend this to anyone looking for a quality subwoofer that doesn't have the room for anything bigger.
It also have a wonderful gloss finish that looks beautiful!
