I purchased the Synergy quintet system for my bedroom and matched it with a Pioneer VSX-514 that puts out 100 watts per channel and am very happy with my setup.
The satellites are barely larger than a 16 oz bottle of water and fit easily on a nightstand and still leave plenty of real estate for an alarm clock, beverage and a box of tissues. They also come with a built in stand so you can angle or aim them towards the middle of your listening area. The center channel is about double the size and does not come with a stand. All of the speakers are magnetically shielded, so you can just sit the center channel right on top of your TV with no worries.
I have auditioned many satellite systems and have learned that you will definitely need to add a subwoofer to round out the listening experience. I complement the Klipsch system with a Yamaha 8 inch powered sub, and I would highly recommend some type of powered sub with this system. This system easily fills the room with crisp, precise sound. The patented Klipsch horn creates lifelike sounds that really bring a movie soundtrack to life.
I mostly use these speakers for movies, and this seems to be their forte. For music, they are great at lower volumes for quiet listening, but they are just not designed to fill an entire house. So if you want to turn it up and listen while you do the dishes or vacuum the living room you should probably consider something with a little more power and a larger footprint.
For small cube –like speakers the Klipsch Synergy Quintets easily compete, if not surpass, the various Bose products costing much more.
