| phungus's Full Review: Labtec spin™ 60 2 Speakers |
I just recently purchased a Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer sound card (read my review) and it supports 4 speaker and surround sound setup. I already had a labtec subwoofer and speaker set, and needed to add 2 more speakers in order to get the full effect of the card and of some of the games I play.
I shopped around a good bit at Walmart, Circuit City, Office Depot, and Office Max. Mostly all I could find were either 3 and 5-piece speaker sets with subwoofers, which I didn't need, or I would find these really cheap, generic speakers that I didn't want to waste my money on. I eventually found these labtec Spin-60's for around 30 bucks, and they offered pretty good sound without the subwoofer.
These speakers sound really good, even though they have no subwoofer. Now, they are not going to rattle your windows with bass, but they do offer good, clear sound. They also offer a much wider frequency range (70 hZ - 20Khz) that some of the other speakers of the same size and price.
One really cool thing about these speakers is that they have headphone and microphone plugs built into them, which means I don't have to crawl under my desk to get to the back of the computer and unplug the speaker and plug in headphone. I love this, because I can stay up later at night and play games with my headphone more easily.
My only complaint about these speakers is that the wire that connects them is way too short, and it's built-in, which means I would have to buy more wire and do some splicing if I wanted to get them farther apart. Other than that, these are good speakers, and they don't take up a lot of desk space.
