dumptruck's Full Review: Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for Xbox
"Street Fighter 2" and me go WAY, WAY back. ( In 1991, fourteen years ago, I was amazed at what I had saw at the local arcade. At the tender age of thirteen, I was surrounded by older kids. The cool, the uncool, and the flat out weird. "Street Fighter 2" gave birth to new reputations. If you constantly won, you were a legend and if you constantly lost you were a clown. I didn't fall into either demographic, but I had a new game that I liked.)
So now here's "Street Fighter Anniversary Collection" for Xbox. I'm going to flat out say that the only reason that I got this game is because "SF3: Third Strike" is on here.
"SF3: Third Strike" in my opinion was the cat's meow, or the sh-t more appropriately. I played a little in the arcade, then I got it for the Dreamcast (although I later traded both in for the store credit towards the Gamecube).
Now, I got it again, and this time it's staying. I'm not going to give an analysis on this game, but I'll flat out say this game is good. "Street Fighter 2" was good for it's time, but SF Alpha blew it out of the water.
"SF3: Third Strike" is dope for a couple of reasons:
Graphics: As far as 2D goes, this, SF Alpha, and Guilty Gear were and still are the cream of the crop.
Control: It controls well, simply put.
Sound: The music isn't all that great.... well except at the player select screen. The song "Let's Get It On Now" really pumps me up to fight.
Not to discredit "Street Fighter 2" ,though I'll say this in it's obscure and obsolete defense: The "Street Fighter 2" movie is on the game!
What I'd have loved to see is an SF Alpha trilogy, or a complete SF Universe. EVERY SINGLE person on Street Fighter in one game!
I like this collection, although I'll play "SF3: Third Strike" the most.
Go to back to the arcade without leaving the house, by playing Hyper Street Fighter II Play a complete version of the arcade smash, Street Fighter III...More at Amazon Marketplace
