willsmama's Full Review: Maclaren Volo - Carbon Umbrella Stroller
We inherited a jogging stroller and a big Combi stroller. While the Combi was relatively light, it wasn't an umbrella stroller and was only practical when our son was in his infant carrier. The jogging stroller is great for long walks, but it isn't good for maneuvering through stores or even getting into the car.
Having inherited the other strollers, this purchase was very important to me. I looked at every review out there. The MacLaren Techno, Inglesina Zippy and Peg Perego Pliko were comfortable and relatively light; yes, I found myself drawn to all of their bells and whistles - esp. as my mind envisioned other children in the future. But when it came down to it, I am so glad that I focused on the fact that I was buying basic travel for my infant as he continues to grow. We didn't need an SUV when a hybrid would do. Yes, we may have other children, but that is in the future and after talking to a seasoned couple in the baby store, I was reminded that this stroller would make it through the long haul whether or not we had other others.
- The Volvo is very light and the strap makes it very easy to swing over my shoulder.
- William seems comfortable in it as he happily bumps along the Charleston sidewalks.
- Its construction and components are tough, unlike other light umbrella strollers. I am not living on borrowed time as I wait for it to fall apart.
- It is easy to open and close while holding the baby.
- If I rest it on its handles in a corner, it stands up fairly well.
- It is great for maneuvering through shopping aisles.
- The extra storage space is handy - although everything has to be removed to close it properly.
- The mesh seat is easy to keep clean.
We are looking into getting the accessory pack, but only because it would be nice to have some shade in the hot months - but we may just go with a hat and possibly an umbrella.
