Having grown up with Mosaic to Netscape Navigator, but having switched to Internet Explorer with their 4.0 release, I thought there was hope for going back to Netscape with their 6.0 release. In short, stay away.
The Mozilla.org developers begged Netscape/AOL not to release the new version when they did as there are some problems fixed in the Mozilla code base which Netscape refused to incorporate into their "blessed" version. Until the open source Mozilla 1.0 version comes out (next summer) and Netscape incorporates those changes into their browser, I would stay away and wait and pray that it gets better. At a minimum, wait for the 0.8 rev from Mozilla.
Performance is a dog and Netscape's new look and feel sucks. Thankfully you can replace it with their downloadable skins. Of course, all the other junk they add on the screen and their tight integration with all things AOL is a waste. I just wish there was an easy way to clear out all the things they add to the default setup so I can have a clean browser.
Crash city, but no blue screens of death at least.
