| Dionne25's Full Review: Sunbeam 6220 2-Slice Toaster |
I seem to be on a roll with various appliances that we had when living in Alaska, so I figured, I should just go with the flow.
When we first moved into our apartment, one of the first things we bought was a toaster. I really didn't want to splurge on a toaster, I mean, how hard can it be for a basic toaster to toastbread? So, on one of my many trips to Wal-Mart, the Sunbeam 6220 Toaster caught my eye. It was really a toss-up between the 4-slice and 2-slice, but ultimately, I figured since there's only two of us to go with the 2-slice.
First off, I couldn't have gotten it at a better price...at $5, you can't go wrong. It's a small toaster and very convenient. Its overall look is not that appealing. To me, it looked like a simple toaster and at that point in my life, I wasnt looking for anything fancy. It looked easy to operate and quick to clean. It was a pretty basic 2-slice toaster with a crumb catcher located at the bottom. It also came with additional features that were pretty handy. You could toast bagels with this toaster at the push of a button. Also, if you have any frozen items such as waffles, simply press the Frozen button to ensure that its toasted to perfection. Based on how you like your toast, from light toast to dark toast, by turning the number dial from 1-8, you determine how light or dark to toast your bread.
As I stated, clean up was a cinch. The crumb catcher slid out from under the toaster with ease. Shake off the excess crumbs in the garbage (or sink) and wipe clean with a damp cloth or sponge. The cord wasnt too long, but it came with a handy cord-wrapper at the bottom. I think this was built in to prevent young children from getting their mischievous hands on it. The only setback I found was that since it was white, I had to constantly clean the exterior, but most of my kitchen appliances were white, so this was no big deal.
I never really had any problems with this toaster. I thought this was such a convenient little device and did everything I needed. When it came time for us to move, we decided not to bring the toaster with us, and gave it to a good friend whom we knew would take good care of it. Once he saw it, he was quite tickled at how small and convenient it was. Hes told us that it has served him well.
Overall, I really liked the Sunbeam 6220 Toaster. If youre a college student or just starting out, this is a nice little toaster to have. You wont be disappointed.
