The Ultimate Chopper is the first non-exercise-DVD informercial item that I ever ordered. At first, I thought I had lucked out, as it made the most heavenly guacomole and salsa I had ever tasted, not to mention yummy fresh peanut butter. But soon I would learn that Chef Tony's promises could not live up to the shoddy construction of this device.

I never, ever order an informercial product directly from the 800 number displayed on TV. All they do is try to sell you extra junk and sneak in hidden charges. You can often do beter by Googling as-seen-on-tv websites. I was able to find one that offered the Chopper with free shipping. With informercial items, that can run up to $30. They also had live chat on their website, which is a plus if you need to get in touch for customer service purposes.
The product arrived within a few weeks, well packaged and with the free gift (a Chef Tony knife) included.
The Ultimate Chopper was fairly easy to assemble and quite simple to use, although clean up was a bit of a pain because the blades are not removable. I ran it through its paces for about a week and loved it! I made incredible dips and sauces; the only thing I didn't like was the tiny capacity of the container (I could have purchased a larger one at an additional charge, but I think the standard one should be a reasonable size for what you pay in the first place).
I was a little disapointed in the "recipe book," which was more like a badly xeroxed document. It didn't contain all of the recipes that the infomercial had led me to believe.
One nice surprise was the sharpness of the "free gift" knife. That thing is incredible! My husband and I both hacked our fingers a couple of times before learning to be wary of its cutting power.
But then, I noticed a series of cracks at the base of the blade. It didn't look like the Chopper would be safe to operate, as the housing seemed like part of it could fly off. I called the place where I'd purchased it, since it was only a week old. Since I liked the product, I preferred a replacement, but the customer service rep. was very honest and said this was an ongoing problem. She advised me to send it back and get a refund, and she even sent me a pre-paid UPS label.
Sadly, I shipped the Chopper back to Chef Tony and his crew. Oh well, at least I got to keep the knife, and I later ended up buying a whole Miracle Blade set at Target.
Much later, I saw the Magic Bullet on TV. I bought it at Target so I could easily return it if it turned out to be as flimsy as the Chopper. What a pleasant surprise! The Bullet's blade housing is removeable, so it's easy to clean and replace. It has larger capacity containers and works just as well as the Chopper...perhaps even better. If you really want a nice little household chopper, the Magic Bullet is a much better bet.
