Pros: User Friendly
Cons: Too Many Too Mention, poor performance and reliabiality after awhile.
The Bottom Line: Terrible reliability but OK if you need a second VCR for the bedroom or the kids, but don't expect it to last much longer than 1-2 years.

| karenfan's Full Review: Sylvania KVS 299K VHS VCR VHS VCR |
This VCR served me fairly well until it was a little more than a year old (and right after the warranty expired-of course). After that, I experienced trouble with the machine almost on a weekly basis. I took the unit in to get new belts put on, gears lubricated, and heads cleaned. It worked fine for about ONE MONTH after I got it back, then it started all over again. The VCR started eating my tapes, ejecting in the middle of watching a movie, the rewind and FF started acting up, the HI-FI sound was sporadic, then one day, in the middle of watching a movie, the machine simply shut off and it hasn't worked since! (and my tape is still inside) It's going to the junkyard as it's not worth getting repaired again. The service guy told me he sees and works on these machines every day. The bottom line is that the current influx of cheap, mass-market VCR's currently flooding the market are mostly junk. Don't expect them to last much longer than 1-2 years. Save your money and buy yourself a Panasonic or Toshiba VCR which are the remaining few brands that are still made in Japan. The VCR and VHS format is in its twilight anyway, but spending a little more for a quality VCR should give you much better performance and reliability than these Wal-Mart machines do... Buyer beware!
