Symantec does not seem to care about my kids (Reply to this comment)

I am so glad to find someone else who shares my experience! I used to have Outlook 2000 rules that worked really well with the 'spam alert' in Norton 2003, as they permanently deleted spam from my adult/junk list or with certain key words. The spam alert picked up extra ones. Now, all the spam, much of it obscene, stays on the PC for my kids to see. All I want to do is to be able to run my rules after Norton has done its thing, but Symantec either can't or won't help. I have reached the point where I will have to disable the damned thing!

Thanks for the comments. You make a good point about the ad/pop up blocker elements, which work so automatically that I forget that they are there.

Regarding ActiveSync to sync Outlook 2002 with a PocketPC, I have no problems there, so I'm a little confused by your comment. I use an IPAQ PocketPC so maybe it's something with the one you use.

And finally, regarding routing Spam to another folder - that's fine if most software of this type does that. My issue is that a novice could easily get the impression that this product does something to PREVENT Spam in the first place. According to the dictionary, "anti" is defined as "A prefix meaning against, opposite or opposed to, contrary, or in place of." I simply find "AntiSpam" in this case to be somewhat misleading.

Thanks again for taking the time to read my review and to provide comments. Your points are wall taken, and I appreciate the feedback.

Take care,

R.

Some good points. I agree, NAS has some problems, but it also has some promise, if Symantec would address a few bugs and usability issues.

Norton AntiSpam 2004 does seem to integrate well into Outlook 2002

Unless you're also running Activesync to sync Outlook 2002 with a PocketPC.....

You might also mention the ad blocker and popup blocker.

Almost all spam software routes spam to another folder, so you can check it before deletion, so I can't really fault NAS for that feature.
