I've been using Memorex CD-R's and -RW's in one of these drives for several weeks now with nary a hitch. I've also run through a spindle of cheapo Princo CD-R disks and some Panasonic (no idea who actually makes them...) DVD-R's without incident.
CD/DVD burning is funky voodoo no matter how you slice it; Peculiarities can vary widely from drive to drive even if they are the same model from the same manufacturer. The same is true of writable media...
