I Completely Disagree (Reply to this comment)
by fastpony
I have been playing a Tak G230 for 2-3 years now. I bought it as my first guitar because it was inexpensive. Over the last few years, I have played other more expensive guitars, let other people play mine, and the concensus is just the opposite of what you say. My Tak holds a tune like no other guitar. She's a workhorse of an instrument. It has a great, full ringing sound, sustains really nicely, the action is low, but nice. People who have played all kinds of acoustics, and generally own Taylors, Martins, etc. play my guitar and comment on how well it compares to the more expensive pieces. I saw a guy play once who had spent THOUSANDS on a really lovely acoustic that would not stay in tune. What's the point? With my Tak, I'm not uptight about having an expensive instrument that I have to baby. It's been reliable and durable, and I wouldn't trade her for any other guitar. In fact, I am now looking at a G230 acoustic / electric so I have more flexibility playing out, but I won't give up the sound and feel of the guitar I love. I can only think that either you picked up the Tak expecting something else and were disappointed, OR you happened to get one that had crappy strings, I don't know. But I will stay with my G230.

Hey Mike. Thanks--that would be great if Epinions had Larrivee and Santa Cruz on its site. Larrivee especially would be helpful to Epinions's readers. Santa Cruz is on the elite side, but might still be of interest to some considering high end Martins or Taylors. We'll see what happens.

for submitting a review on a brand that has seen virtually no attention on Epinions. I think you might be surprised at the reads your review generates.
One of the guys in my band has one of the old Takamine acoustic-electrics. I don't think it plays all that great (he may just need a better setup), but the sound is incredibly mellow. I'll borrow it for a day or two and write something on it.
I submitted your manufacturer's pages to Epinions, but haven't seen the categories up yet. Maybe soon....
Thanks again.
