Pros: Good for kids 3-7, don't need a lot of dexterity to use the controls.
Cons: Can't save game mid-way through a level, a little repetitive, boring for an older child.
The Bottom Line: Best for a child under 8. A little repetitive, but fun for a child. Parents can help child through the game until they get the hang of it.

OBJECT OF GAME
Splinter, the smart rat that is sort of the Ninja Turtles' mentor, gets separated from his sewer-dwelling friends because of a bad guy and the Ninja Turtles must combat gang members and robots of all sorts in the sewers, on the streets, and elsewhere to get him back.
HOW MANY PLAYERS
You can play either a one-person or two-person "story-based" game or a one-on-one battle with a second player or the computer.
WHAT DID I THINK OF IT?
I played this game with my two young children, my son is 3 1/2 and my daughter is almost 6. It is actually an enjoyable game to play for someone who is new to the X-Box (like me) and not particularly good at using the complicated controller. It is fun to slash and destroy the robots and gang members, trying to pick up food and weapons along the way to keep playing as long as possible.
When you are playing with young children, however, the lower levels can get boring and repetitive very quickly. And since there is no way to save your game between levels, you are forced to start over from the beginning!
WHAT DID MY KIDS THINK OF IT?
My daughter wasn't that interested in playing this game after the first few times (I think it was just a girl thing, she probably would rather be playing the Barbie X-Box game). But my 3-year-old son, after playing it consistently for a few days, mastered the controller very quickly (which was rather surprising to me) and managed to play the game well enough to make it to the higher levels all on his own. We had originally rented this game from Blockbuster, but since he loved it so much, we bought it.
MORE DETAILS
A few things I liked about the game:
1. The ability to quickly advance through the exposition, if you desired. You could almost immediately get to the game-playing if you were repeating a level.
2. I also liked that it held my adult interest long enough that I could bear playing the same levels repeatedly with my children as they learned the ropes.
A few things I disliked about the game:
1. Can't save your game while advancing through a level.
2. Not sure still exactly how to set up individual games for each person and save them.
3. Not enough explanation of how to do special moves in order to combat the bad guys later in the game...which can be irritating when you are trying to help a child understand how to play.
CONCLUSION
I would recommend this game for kids under the age of 8. After that, I think it is really a little too simple and repetitive to keep an older child's interest. But for kids from 3-7 I think it is a perfect game to learn how to use the X-Box controller and to feel successful at a game that looks a lot like an adult game. There is no blood or gore. The violence is pretty mild, so I think it is a very safe choice for young children.
