This Sandwich maker was a gift from my daughter last Christmas. I did have a Sandwich Maker that I had gotten from a garage sale for $5.00 3 years ago, but it wasn't working any more. So when I got this Toastmaster Snackster Snack n' Sandwich Maker, from my daughter I was very pleased. I've used this Toastmaster Sandwich Maker quite often during the past summer months when I was baby sitting for the grand kids.

It's a great sandwich maker for making fish and vegetable roll-ups, sandwich pockets, hot pockets and fruit snacks. It will make 2 full sandwiches or 4 hot pockets at once.
1)--Cool touch case.
2)--Short power cord.
3)--Non-stick cooking surface for easy clean-up.
4)--Dual ready lights.
5)--Stands on end for easy storage.
6)--Comes with a recipe booklet.
Preparing the sandwich maker:
Before using the Sandwich Maker you must wipe the non-stick cooking surfaces with a damp cloth and dry, and condition the non-stick surface by lightly coating it with vegetable shortening.
How to use the Sandwich maker:
After the unit has been plugged into an outlet, the red power "on" light will come on. You then have to wait to allow the sandwich maker to heat up. When the green pre-heat light comes on the sandwich maker is ready to use. This usually takes 5 minutes. The green light will continue to turn on and off during use. If you notice some smoking, this is okay. This is normal and shouldn't appear again after the first few uses.
Cooking time is 4-7 minutes for most recipes. You can leave your recipe in longer to toast darker or cook until done.
To remove your snack always use a nylon, plastic or a wooden utensil to protect the non-stick surface. Never use any sharp or metal objects.
Always allow any sandwich, hot pocket or roll-ups to cool before eating. Especially with children as the filling can become very hot.
Make sure you unplug the unit from the outlet when not in use and before each cleaning also.
When your done using the sandwich maker always unplug it and allow the unit to cool slightly. When the surface is still a little warm, brush it with a clean pastry brush or cloth. Never use any course scouring pads or steel wool on the non-stick surfaces. If you have a stubborn stain, use a plastic mesh puff or pad. The exterior finish can be cleaned with a non-abrasive cleaner and a damp cloth and dried thoroughly.
After it has been cleaned, close the lid and latch. The unit can now stand on end for easy storage on your counter or in your cabinet.
If using bread to make sandwich pockets, the bread will toast better if the outside of each slice is buttered. Recipes for sandwich pockets are made with a filling between 2 slices of bread. Any type or flavor of bread may be used.
Making a Sandwich Pocket:
Here is a recipe that I have made several times when I had my old sandwich maker. I call them apple pie pockets and the grand kids always love them.
First slice up an apple into very fine pieces.
Add a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of sugar to the apples and mix well.
Butter one side of a slice of bread and place it buttered side down onto the surface of the sandwich maker.
Place 2 Tbsp. of filling onto that bread slice.
Butter the second slice of bread on one side and place it onto the filling with the buttered side up. Close the lid and latch. This will take about 5 minutes or so, depending on how fine that you have chopped the apple. When done you can easily slice the sandwich pocket with a pizza cutter. You can use other fruits as well. I've used canned cherries, blueberries or strawberries also. These make great fruit snacks for the kids.
Making Hot Pockets:
Before making Hot pockets you should always condition both the cooking surfaces and always pre-heat the unit. This should be done before and after each batch of hot pockets. When making hot pockets you do not use bread. Heres a hot pocket recipe for Pancake puffs.
Mix pancake batter as directed using a boxed mix or your homemade recipe.
Add 1/4 cup of batter into each of the designed pockets in the non-stick sandwich maker. Do not over fill. Close the lid, but do not latch. Cook for 5-7 minutes, and serve with butter and syrup. There are several other recipes in the booklet that I've tried and there all great.
These roll-ups can be made to serve as hors d'oeuvers for Holidays or on special occasions
Use any vegetables, shrimp or crab meat. Just combine them with your favorite ingredients.
Trim off the crusts from a slice of bread and spread 2 Tsp. of your desired filling mixture onto the bread, roll the bread up and butter the outside. Close the lid and latch. Time will vary on these from 5-7 minutes or so.
By using your own imagination, I'm sure you will come up with a lot of great and different recipes to try with this Toastmaster Snackster Snack n' Sandwich Maker. Enjoy!!!!
Thanks for reading and Happy Snacking!!!!
