Toastmaster Sandwich Maker
More toys for my kitchen

The Toastmaster Sandwich Maker is a pretty nice little appliance to have around in times of urgent hungry kids! I have had it for a couple years now and for the most part, just make grilled cheese sandwiches on it. It is an extremely convenient way to make part of a quick meal!
Toastmaster makes this four sandwich model which is reasonably priced around $20 as well as a two sandwich model which is priced even lower. They clean up nicely and are compact and easy to store.

The Toastmaster Sandwich Maker is white with a non stick coating on the inside. It is 9 inches deep and 9 ¼ inches wide and weights a little over eight pounds. It comes with a one year manufacturers warranty and can be found at most online retailers or variety stores.

Using the sandwich maker
.
I like that it is pretty simple to operate with no adjusting dials or confusing controls. There isnt even an on/off button. You simply plug it into the outlet and let it heat up. There is an indicator light on the top which tells you when the grill is ready.
When I use it, I just slice some cheese and put it between bread with a tiny bit of butter on the outsides. Sometimes I mix it up a bit and throw in a slice of ham for them! You dont need a lot of butter because the grill plates are non-stick and the sandwich falls away from the grill when opened. When the sandwiches are in place, I close the Toastmaster and fasten the latch on the handles to keep it closed tight and moisture in.
In just the perfect amount of time it takes to heat up a can of soup, the sandwiches are cooked and I know this because the indicator light comes on to tell me. When I unlatch the hinge and open the sandwich maker, the handles are cool to the touch as an extra safety feature. I just use a fork or spatula to pull the sandwiches out one by one.
The sandwiches are divided somewhat into two triangles for each whole sandwich. They can easily be separated into two triangle half sandwiches if you are only serving halves or want to present the food in two halves. I also sometimes will rotate the sandwich in the grill and press it down again to make quick fourths. The Toastmaster does not cut the bread, but does make nice little pocket sandwiches that are grilled to perfection. My younger daughter always asks for them and the older one likes them when they are given to her. My husband even likes them and they are a quick and easy way to get something on the table when you are in a pinch.
The manufacturer claims that it cooks four sandwiches or eight hot pockets. I have never used the sandwich maker for anything except grilled cheese, but it does sort of make them into little grilled cheese hot pockets and any addition of ingredients would make for some creative snacks! Throwing broccoli in there might be interesting! I suppose I should be more inspired and start really surprising at least the younger daughter.
Cleaning is simple
.
After the unit has cooled down, I wipe it down with a paper towel. If I need to add some warm soapy water, I do, but take care not to get too much water on the sandwich maker. It is definitely not to be submerged in water. It is pretty simple to keep it clean because not much sticks to it!
Lastly -
This is a nice small appliance to have around for quick snacks or meals. It is easy to use and inexpensive. My Toastmaster Sandwich Maker has held up through some light to moderate use over time and I like it. It is very flexible in use and the possibilities seem endless.
