| exosquadd1's Full Review: Toshiba 20AF41 20 inch TV |
I needed a new bedroom TV and have wanted a flat tube for a while. With only room for a 20" my choices were limited. There were offerings from Sony (WEGA), Sylvania, Panasonic and Toshiba. I think Philips also makes one but I could not find a model in a store to view. I went to a few local electronics stores to look at picture quality and hear the sound. I decided the Toshiba was the right one. Picture quality was, IMHO, better than the Sony and Sylvania sets. Plus the Toshiba has S-Video and Component Video inputs. Sony wants an additional $80 for S-video and additional $... for composite!!! The Panasonic picture was pretty good, but it was $... more and has no component video (although it has 2 S-video).
Be advised that the S-Video and Component Video inputs share the audio inputs with the AV inputs. The set really has 3 available inputs, not 5 as the Toshiba info would have you believe. Also as mentioned in another review the remote isn't the greatest, but it works and I am getting used to it. I think it's more a matter of leaving my old remote behind.
I have this TV hooked up to my PS2 via a Monster S-Video cable and it blows away the picture on other friends standard tube TV's connected via AV inputs. DVD quality using the PS2 is also excellent.
The price is excellent for the quality picture and 3 different connection types you get. The amazon price of $... is comparable to the lowest price I have seen in retail stores (with the exception of a sale).
