Such a beautiful image, crisp sound, and a wicked, heavy television! The flat screen really does make a difference - something that you will quickly get used to. There is no glare like a standard TV, and the picture perfectly fills up the viewing area on the screen.
Pros
The picture quality really is far superior to most TV's of this size. The colors are rich and there is no evidence of the image washing out or bleeding.
The number of inputs is absolutely fantastic. If you have lots of other AV equipment that you want to attach, then this is a wonderful television to have. It supports component input which I find to be the best input from my DVD player. The component input is called Colorstream by Toshiba, not that really means anything different. Component video is a much better option for high quality video input. It splits out the three colors into separate cables so there is no signal interference between them.
So, there are two places for regular composite video input, an S-video input, the previously mentioned component input, and even an AV output jack.
The remote control is easy to use, and the channel information is displayed on screen as you change channels. The remote gives you access to all of the standard menu settings for the TV - picture, inputs, etc. And the remote control glows in the dark - seems to glow quite well actually - much better than those glow in the dark watches.
Not sure why epinions says there is no V-chip support because there is - in case you care.
There are of course lots of other little features that kind of add up: sleep timer, earphone jack, multiple language support, favorite channel memory.
Cons
Okay, this thing weighs about 50 pounds! Even just deciding to move it across your living room can be a pain.
The sound quality is fair, not great, but adequate. There is a setting called BBE which really enhances the sound quality. It is disabled by default for some peculiar reason. Once you find the setting in the menu system and enable it, there is a noticeable improvement in the sound quality. Otherwise, I would recommend running sound from your DVD player, VCR, etc. through a real stereo.
This television is more expensive than others compared to others of its size. Not that it is a very expensive TV, but the cost increase for the high quality flat screen compared to other standard screen TV's is considerable.
