When we first got the Toshiba 2860 copier/fax/printer, we were all amazed at what it could do. It copies and prints quickly and easily, it has a print server attached, which can process and spit out massive double sided documents in no time at all, and you can either fax through it from your computer, or send/receive faxes like a regular desktop fax machine.

The print quality is amazing, and it prints at a speed of 28 sheets per minute. Good enough for what we need it for. It has a capacity to hold 600 Sheets of paper on 5 trays, each being a different size or texture. When photocopying multiple copies it stores the image in it's memory and prints copies quickly, instead of scanning for each page like many other copiers, this makes it faster and lowers mechanical weardown. And when printing multiple large double-sided documents, it stores all the paper inside the machine (I don't know where) and spits out ready to bind books, instead of each page seperately, thus not requiring you to sort each page to create your books like other photocopier/printers we have had in the past.

Then came the problems. First we noticed it has frequent paper jams. Then it started having other weird problems. Losing paper printouts, turning itself off at will, refusing to fax until you power it off and try again, not allowing you to remove corrupt printouts from it's print queue, thus wasting piles of paper, and requiring you to feed paper manually when you printed to a specific tray. We have had the repair guys in far to many times now, probably at least 30, and still the problems persist. And our print count has not even reached 75,000 sheets. We may have received a lemon, I am not sure what others have found with this model, but I would think twice before picking up a Toshiba 2860.

Hope this review saves some of you from the same grief. Let me know if any of you have had good luck with this model, and maybe I will look into getting this model exchanged with the same.
