Pros: The device is durable. Have not lost a connection in 3 years.
I bought mine from Best Buy with the Comcast Self-Installation Kit.
Once Comcast gave the cable modem access to their network, I have not had any problems staying connected. I have not had to call Comcast in the past 3 years to check my modem in order to access the Internet.
I had no trouble hooking a 4-port Router and eventually a Wireless Router to the cable modem. It is very easy to install.
WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT? (What do I like about it?)
The device is durable. Have not lost a connection in 3 years.
WHAT ABOUT THE BAD STUFF? (What do I not like about it?)
THE VERDICT: (Would I recommend this to others?)
This is the best modem I have seen.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN PURCHASING AN ITEM LIKE THIS:
If you are considering signing up with Comcast, and if you decide to buy your modem, I would suggest that you buy some other brand besides the RCA model (which is the model that Comcast rents out). I have a friend who bought the RCA model from Best Buy and Comcast charged him rent on his own modem. And, when he moved to a new area, he signed up again with Comcast. And again, Comcast tried to charge him rent on his modem. Needless to say when my friend just moved recently for the second time, he did not sign up for Comcast again. He went with the Satellite Dish, instead.
