After almost 2 years of use and some modifications this laptop has proven to be very reliable as a work machine.

The web site above is where I got a brand new 80GB 7200rpm hard drive and an additional 512MB of RAM, bringing the system to 1GB of RAM. I am currently running OpenSuSE 10.0 on my system and everything works. The faster hard drive and increase in RAM are a nice counter to the Celeron CPU and it's meager cache.
Again I strongly recomend this system, it's reliable to the core, mine has been dropped, smashed and had at lest 3 cups of coffee spilled on it. And it's still moving along!
As I had stated in my earlier review, the cooling fan was really noisy. Over time it got really bad! My cube mate 2 cubes over started to complain. (I am partially deaf so it's not that loud to me... although I can hear it.) anyhow, to correct the problem I used a dual lubricating solution.
I used MIL-SPEC 907E anti-sieze compound and Break Free CLP gun oil to lubricate the main shaft of the cooling fan, this required removing the cooling fan assembly. Packing the motor housing with the Anti-Sieze then putting 3 drops of gun oil. Then I manually spun the fan until it was rolling smoothly. Haven't heard a whisper from it since, this was 6 months ago.
Again this has been a very reliable system and because it is Linux friendly I strongly promote it!
