| techguy137's Full Review: Uniden BC-245XLT (300 Channels) Two Way Radio |
Actually, I have a Uniden BC-220XLT, but their are only a few differences. Mine has only 200 channels and some of the cellular band is not blocked out. :)
So, I got this radio ages ago and the battery, NiCD, still works well--which is a plus in any case. This radio has the most features for any like priced radio (under $300) and Uniden is an industry leader.
As with all scanners and programmable radios, they conveniently keep their value unlike almost any other electronic gizmo.
The omni-band antenna that ships with this radio is really good but I made a tunable whip antenna for specific freqs and it's only marginally better.
This is a good radio but there are not too many modifications or hacks you can perform to date, but if you look hard enough you can usually find a mod to receive the band you want in full.
This radio is great for a beginner to intermediate level user.
