Poor Picture Quality

I purchased JVC's HR-S4600U after returning their S3600u model, believing it must have been defective because of poor playback quality. The 4600's shabby performance is, unfortunatley, exactly the same. Neither of these units is able to record a crisp, detailed, high resolution picture for playback on a large screen, hi-res. monitor. My Television is a 60" Ultravision digital projection TV by Hitachi.

I also must note that either of these machines CAN play back very sharp, highly detailed, high resloution images, as long as they have been recorded on other machines.

Tapes recorded on my Mitsubishi U90 S-VHS VCR, as well as those from my ancient GE S-VHS Video Camera are played back with excellent fidelity. It is a shame that that the "inventor of VHS" as JVC touts themselves, is delivering such a mediocre product to the market.
