Pros: Nice bottom end support for music
Cons: Not enough "oomph" for movies
I purchased this subwoofer to compliment BIC Venturi tower speakers. My thought was that I wanted a very smooth, musical subwoofer so I would choose the brand that most people seem to believe is one of the best. I have not found Velodyne to live up to their name.
Sure enough, on music this sub really extends the bottom end and makes the whole experience more realistic. On movies, however, low end effects set this puppy mad. Often the sub refuses to produce the sound effects contained on the movie soundtrack and just sits there and cracks!
I called the factory about this situation. They sent a replacement amplifier which I installed. There was no difference. When I called back, they informed me that this subwoofer wasn't designed for home theatre and, perhaps, I should choose a different model. Subsequently, I have sold my sub for a fraction of what I paid for it and am going to look into a different brand.
