Pros: Easy to set up, great functionality, best bargain in web cameras on the market.
Cons: No hardcopy owners manual, only CD.
The Bottom Line: Best buy in market...period. Unbelievable value. Digital camera w/digital zoom, web server, internet remote controlled pan and zoom, motion sensor capabilities and only $150? WOW!!
bentl1's Full Review: Veo Wireless Observer Network Camera
I've read the reviews that have had issues with this camera and I'm convinced they didn't take the time to read the owners manual. A comparable camera from anyone else is almost double the price. Or a commercial model can easily cost a thousand bucks or more. I use it everyday in my office to check up on my kids at home. Yes, broadband is required, but that is becoming more commonplace every day. The picture quality is not 35mm quality, but bear in mind, this is a digital camera with a geared pan and tilt mount, a digital zoom, a web server and it's fully remote controlled over the web ... it's only 150.00, what on earth do you expect? I was impressed with the results enough that I'm getting a couple more for other areas. I had the camera up and running in under five minutes. Should you not be computer savvy and have a firewall between the camera and the web, it does take a while to read the instructions to figure out how to penetrate the firewall for access. But the instructions on the CD were as good as anything I've ever read on the subject. It's not the camera's fault if it can't get through the firewall, it's the settings you have set that block it. The company who manufactured the firewall usually have halfway decent tech help, and it's really a simple fix to let it send and receive on the correct ports. (port forwarding) The complaints about support help are totally unjustified. I called the tech department a couple of days later for additional info on the motion sensor options and got through quickly. They were very, very knowledgeable and polite. I called the main office and then asked for a tech guy. That always works best with everyone. Even with companies like Dell that outsource to India....I call Round Rock directly for a tech and eliminate the language issues and get a better quality tech than you normally would.
All things considered, this camera is an amazing device for the price. I just don't see how it's possible to build such a complicated device like this and still have retailer markup and yet it's still only a 150.00 bucks.
