| matwood's Full Review: ViewSonic VP191 19 inch LCD Monitor |
I researched LCD monitors. My requirements were: 19" or higher, crisp, clear text, and decent graphics response time for watching movies or playing games. The 20" monitors were either too expensive, or had > 25 ms response time that this monitor had. I pared down the list to several LCD monitors. Found many reviews on this one where the only bad thing was the anti-glare would produce too much of a glare around normal lights. Keeping this in mind, I bought it from Dell, and had it in one day.
Hooking up the monitor to an ATI 9800 AIW card, I proceeded to vary the resolutions until I came to the max and recommended 1280 x 1024. As I have a hard time reading, I expected not to be able to use this resolution. Boy, was a gladly mistaken!
My main requirement was readable text. You obviously need a graphics card with digital output as analog would not do this monitor justice. When I hooked it up in 5 minutes, the display was excellent, even at 800 x 600! I tested DVD's, Doom 3, text, pictures, and all were crisp clear, with uniform coloring - something my 21" Hitachi monitor did not do properly!
My only complaint was that the monitor cord holders are too flimsy and will probably break (not that I use them anyway)
Since I plan to move to London, the other requirement was to support 110 to 240, which it does! I just need to buy a plain UK cord!
I love it so much I am buying another one!
