theman61890's Full Review: WWE WrestleMania XIX for GameCube
One of the main reasons i bought a gamecube was to play there line of wrestling games. I was pleased with some of them like Legends of Wrestling 2 and Wrestlemania X8. But when Wrestlemania XIX I was on some levels satisfied, and in some ways dissapointed.
One of the strong points of this game is the roster. This game features dozens of your favorite superstars like Stone Cold, The Undertaker, Chris Jericho, etc. And if your favorite superstar is not in this game you can use the extensive create a superstar mode to create your favorite wrestlers that were not a part of this game.
Along with the great character selection there was a decent exhibiton mode. They had all the favorites like hell in a cell and tables, ladders, and chairs matches. But this game did lack a bunch of modes that are existent on the smackdown line of wrestling games like the elimination chamber, bras and panties matches, and many others. But one thing that WM XIX had over their rival smackdown games was the animations of some of these matches were superb. The hell in a cell match for example was far superior in this game opposed to the hell in a cell match in smackdown here come the pain or any other wrestling game.
Moving to other tedious areas, the graphics of this game are great. Most of the wrestlers look like their living counterpart and the arenas look amazing. The controls are rather easy but can be glitchy at times. The weapons in this game are decent but can be better. The weapons need to cause more damage like in the smackdown games. Like when you put your opponent through a table sometimes they can get up before you!
Overall this game gets a 6/10. This game lacks in many areas like exhibition mathces and great weapons. But the detail on the characters and on the matches should alleviate that problem. The new story mode/revenge mode gives this game a new look, but still this feature is still not that great.
