Pros: A must for WWF fans. Mindless fun mixed with some truely good stuff.
Cons: "Rollin'" Getting cheated out of Rob Zombie's real version of "Never Gonna Stop"
The Bottom Line: Forcible Entry is a good effort by the WWF. Many good songs, a couple of generally fantastic songs and only a few songs that miss the mark.
When WWF Aggression came out a couple of years ago, I was quite distressed. Not being a big fan of the "hip-hop" genre, I wanted something that fitted my tastes. I wanted a WWF theme song album that used rock.
Now I have it, and I can't stop listening to it.
It is poetic? Sometimes, and that poetry is always well hidden. I didn't buy this for poetry, and I advise that you don't either. Buy this to have some fun, as that is what most songs on the album are:
The Game - Drowning Pool -HHH's theme
Time to play the game...time to play the game...
Pool's version of the Motorhead's original theme falls short. The song still fits HHH, but not as much as Motorhead's version (which the WWF still uses). There is a lyric in the song that repeats "Here comes the pain!" A few times. I felt the sound would sound much better if the last lyric in the repetion was "Here comes the GAME." In fact, that was what I expected it to say listening for the first time. I was quite confused at that point, but the song grew on me and I realized that it really isn't a bad song.
Legs - Kid Rock (remix from ZZ Top)--Stacy Keebler's theme
She's got legs....she knows how to use them
I normally despise Kid Rock, but he didn't write this song, and manages not to butcher it. It's just a fun tune that really fits Stacy.
Young Grow Old --- Creed
So far in the distant land
There's a fight between boy and man
See the light through the open door
See the light as the young grow old...
This song is NOT a wrestling theme (really not sure why its on the album...). **ONE day after I write this review, I find out that "Young Grow Old" is now the theme song for the Backlash PPV next week. In this case, it doesn't fit the PPV at all and I really have no clue why they choose it.** Despite Creed becoming an overly mainstream crapfest, this song is quite good. The fact that this is the first time it's been released in the U.S. is clearly understood once you listen to it. It doesn't fit Creed's current "image" and is actually a good song. It's poetic in a "What's This Life For" way.
Glass Shatters -- Disturbed ---Stone Cold Steave Austin
I'm breaking the living inside you...Don't run away bring it on--straight to me!
The song that personifies Stone Cold Steve Austin is FINALLY availble in a CD vesrion. This SCSA theme is recognized by many, many wreslting fans as the best one he ever had. It fits his character to the preverbial "T". The thrashing chorus and ominous lyrics gives and actual picture (to wreslting fans) of Stone Cold walking down the ramp and flicking off his opponent and the crowd. Fans will find themselves singing or humming this song as they walk the streets, which could be a bad thing...but oh well, I'll live with it....
Rollin' --- Limp Bizkit --- The Undertakers theme
Move in move out...yadda yadda, blah blah, hands up yeah, yeah...
OK, so my quote is off, but it might as well be 100% truthfull. I've already expressed my contempt for Limp Bizkit and their whiny lead singer. I hate it how the WWF subject me to hearing this song each time I watch their program, and I hate how it is included on this CD. Fred Durst says, "Now you know you be lovin this sh*t right here!" SAY WHAT FRED?! I'm afraid that your perception of what I "know" is quite scewed. I "know" that you're a whiny crybaby who, for some reason, is making money off of what has to be the most unimaginitive song of the decade...
Whatever -- Our Lady Peace --Chris Benoit's Theme
Whatever you need, whatever you got, whatever you want, I'll take back again!
Clever usage of the Chris Benoit's music to make an original song that fits the wrestler well. Nice to headbang to. Nice lyrics, Benoit fans will rejoice.
Never Gonna Stop --- Rob Zombie -- Edge's theme
Some idiot remix of a good song. WWF cheats its fans by giving them a modified theme here. We want the real thing, not 10 minutes of a woman in the backround breathing heavily uttering sexual advances....
One of a Kind --- Breaking Point -- Rob Van Dam's theme
The fear I see when I look in your eyes
Makes you believe I'm One of a Kind...
Brillaint rendition of RVD's theme. Pure head-banging fun. Manages to fit the wrestler.
The Beautiful People -- Marilyn Manson -- Smackdown Theme
The beautiful people, the beautiful people, it's all relative to the size of your steeple.
Finally have this song on CD thanks to this album. I always viewed this as a very good middle finger towards the hypocrits of the world, though I don't see why it fits the show...ah well
Across the Nation --- The Union Underground -- Raw Theme
Move to the music, play that fu**ing music, live through the music, yeah!
Mindless dancing fun. Doesn't fit the show, but its so cool I don't really care.
Break the Walls Down --- Sevendust --- Chris Jericho
For those about to rock, I'm what you want. You're the judas and I'm the priest!
Good remake of Jericho's original theme. They should use this in the show, which they have neglected to do so far.
Turn the Tables -- Saliva -- Dudley's theme
Get the tables...
Good theme music for the Dudley's, fits their gimmick....but didn't they recently split? Why create a song if you're going to have them split up?
Live for the Moment --- Monster Magnet -- Hardy Boyz theme
I can (slap?) a tornado! I can dry up the sea! When I live for the moment...
Fits the Hardy's very well, as their high-flying antics make them live-for-the-moment wrestlers. Maybe this is an explaination of why the Hardy's continue to insist on nearly killing themselves in match after match?
End of Everything---Stereomud----Raven's theme
Have you ever been of someone, I've never been afraid of no one.
Nice effect putting the beat to the caw of the ravens. Cool Chorus. Fits the wrestler.
Neurotica --- Ride of your Life
Fall into a carousel of unimagined light...
A confusing song that is NOT currently being used as a theme. This is one of the one's I skip. Its wailing lead singer and strange music might attract some people, but not me. Doesn't detriment the CD though.
Just Another Victim --- Cypress Hill --Tazz
Why get rid of Tazz's already good theme in favor of a RAP theme, which doesn't belong on this album and doesn't fit Tazz at all?
No Chance --- Dope --- Mr. McMahon's theme
If you wanna mess with me you got...no chance...no chance in hell
Nice rendition of his old theme. They should use this on the show. Really good guitar and vocals. Too long and repetitive though.
LoveFuryEnergyPassion -- Boy Hits Car -- Lita's theme
Was there, love and fury...energy and PASSION!
Might have to check out their album. This is a REALLY good song. VERY well written, and shows a command for words. I was genuinely impressed! Suprised that such a good song would end up on this album. It fits Lita, but moreover, its just a really good song.
Yes, it's worth the money. If you're a fan, grab the album, if not, grab it anyway. It's a fun listen. (Wasn't Kane's theme supposed to be on this one? Odd, maybe "Ride of Your Life" is Kane's theme, though it doesn't match what they play on the show (nor does it have the beat of Kane's theme).
