I love waffles, and was looking for a high quality waffle iron that would last. After doing a considerable amount of research on the Internet, I had decided upon the Waring WMK300 waffle maker.
Well packaged, and a decent selection of recipes was included. It was an excellent waffle iron. Found it very easy to use and had a very convenient timer indicator beep. I had refined a great waffle recipe that the entire family enjoyed, and used the waffle iron at least twice a week for almost 16 months.
After the waffle maker failed, being outside of warranty, I opened it up and discovered wires shorting out, melting away the insulation, and actually arcing against the lid of the waffle maker - there were scorch marks on the inside of the stainless steel cover of the bottom baker element. Needless to say, I was shocked at the potential fire hazard that I had been using over the previous 15-16 months.
Very disappointed over losing what was a very good waffle maker, but even more disappointed at Waring for putting to market a potentially hazardous product. If it was the cheapest product available I might have expected this, but not for a product in this price range.
After this experience, I will not buy another Waring product - I just don't trust the quality of the wiring. Now I'm back to researching for another waffle maker.
