Pros: Amazingly accurate, hyper-vigilant, and efficient. Frequently updateable.
Cons: Annual subscription renewal. That's about it!
The Bottom Line: After many trials with other programs, this is the only program which actually does what is expected. A confident purchase for most consumers.

| navybmf's Full Review: Webroot Spy Sweeper 2.0 Full Version for PC |
Admittedly, I am not too well versed in computer technology so quite often I rely on the opinions of others to make decisions when it comes to my personal computer. Sometimes I am let down, sometimes not. On this particular instance, I was not.
Im positive that the vast majority of internet users out there are like me. We just dont have the time or experience to be experts in the intricacies of modern computing. So, let me start from the beginning. Chances are that if youre reading this, you'll feel my pain. Let's see if this sounds familiar. You buy a computer; you use a computer for a few months and are elated by the recent technologies that make internet surfing so wonderful. After a while, you notice that you machine isn't as fast or powerful as it used to be. You start experiencing an amazing amount of pop-ups and you're growing increasingly more annoyed. After talking to a few friends, you figure out that there are programs that the entire world seems to know about, but you. Things called "spyware" and "adware". Or, programs that infiltrate your machine and turn it into a marketing nightmare. You feel violated, so to speak. Especially, since you paid quite a bit of money for virus protection software that until now you figured would take care of any kind of internet nasties. Now, these same people tell you that there are programs that help eliminate these new threats. You go out and download some of these programs that tell you that your PC is infected. Some of them are free, some of them not. So you run these programs in hopes of being protected. However, as much work as these programs are doing, there is no difference.
If you've found yourself in this situation, then you need to read further. See, I had this happen to me. Finally I got sick of this. Thats when I took a cruise to CompUSA to find out how the rest of the world deals with this. The technician/ salesman listened to about half of my story before handing my a little green box and letting me know that all of my problems will go away with a small investment of about twenty-five dollars. Some of the best advice I ever received.
I brought the "Webroot" program home and installed it immediately. Installation was easy and I was up and running in no time. Then, I ran my first scan. I had no less that 341 different threats that this program found. Apparently, threats that FOUR of my other programs missed. Furthermore, some of the items found were actually embedded into some of the other anti-spyware programs I was running. Now I really feel violated!
After ridding myself of all of the threats and uninstalling the FOUR programs that couldnt do the job of this program, I noticed that the luster of my new PC of lost was coming back. Once again, I'm "high speed". Plus, I've finally gotten rid of those pop-ups that made my internet surfing so miserable! What a joy!
Now, this program works so well, it gets a little out of hand. ANY changes that I make to the PC are caught by this little "tattle-tail" immediately and blocked until I give the program the ol' down-boy! This doesn't bother me though. It's kind of like having a reliable little pit-bull!
I've read where other users don't like the constant scanning and updating. Since I have broadband I am not bothered by this. My computer is on the greater majority of the day. I just set the options to automatically scan that C-drive every-morning at around three a.m. When I log in for the first time every morning, my Webroot tells me what it found. Usually nothing, since there isn't anything getting around this program in the first place.
Like may other programs that require constant definition updating these days, you do have to renew your subscription annually to continue to receive definition updates. I say, "So what!" Still cheaper that using "hit and miss" programs like I was.
All in all, I'm thankful I took that salesmans advice that day. I remain confident that Webroot will keep me and my information protected well into the future. I am so satisfied with this program, there isn't a need for me to look elsewhere. By the way, a friend of mine with pretty much the same problem some months ago also bought this program on my advice. Same results and he couldn't be happier either.
