| glendonrusch's Full Review: Whirlpool DU920QWD 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher |
I did some research at epinions and Consumer Reports and other sites, and basically I needed a cheap dependable d-washer. The Whirlpool DU912 fit my needs and it was on sale at Lowe's right down the street from my apartment to boot. I checked the other upscale WP models, and the only difference I could find for the extra $90-200 was electronic controls and more soundproofing. Big deal. I bought $10 worth of sound deadener at www.mcmaster.com and made the thing quieter than any factory washer! It has 2-4 hour delay but I can't hear the washer outside the kitchen anyhow. The Whirlpool name and various recommendations are what lead me to buy this dishwasher and cut a hole in my cabinet. I love the removeable utensil rack and the overall robustness of the build quality. I have a Whirlpool Range Oven in my house that is over 30 years old and functions perfectly. If the washer lasts a third of that timeframe I am going to be very happy. Also a plus is the energy star rating that this product received, costing an avg of $55 a year to operate. That is cheaper than me having to wash dishes by hand or hire a maid. I have a good friend who just bought 180 units of apartments in my hometown. I sold him on these dishwashers, and told him that not only will they up the value of his rentals immediately, but since they are so dependable he will not have to spend alot of money in the near future replacing them.
