Pros: Good performance, low cost, loud alerts.

Cons: Display could be brighter in daytime. No voice alert.

The Bottom Line: I recommend this detector because it works and doesn't cost an arm and leg.

I recently purchased this detector prior to a trip across the Pennsylvania Turnpike and back. I found it on sale at a local Circuit City for $28.95. To be honest I was alittle skeptical that a "cheap" detector would work very well. Well, to my surprise it actually works pretty good for a low end detector. The Pennsylvania Turnpike is at times hilly and winding. My first encounter with a State Trooper with radar up and running gave me more than enough warning, about 3/4 mile, to his presence. The second encounter was less warning, but the Trooper was set up just on the other side of a overpass out of sight. I still had a warning of about 1/8th mile before I came to the underpass. My return trip netted similar results as the first encounter. Unless you drive like a NASCAR driver it should give ample warning. It Also alerted me to various safety warnings with the ever present "Construction" that abounds on the Turnpike and other Pennsylvania roads.

All in all, for $28.95 you'd be hard pressed to get much more. It's not a Valentine One or Passport, but then I didn't bust my wallet for it either.
