After scoring some extra cash from the stock market, I decided to spend it some place. I decided to go for a small TV to place in my room. I am a Sony fanatic myself, I have Sony everything. I had about $1200 to spend. I really wanted a new stereo for my room, but a high-quality flat screen TV seemed very nice. I went to ABT in Glenview, Illinois, I started with the usuall suspects. Sony XBR series, the 20" seemed to be in my price range. But 20" is too small for me, I'm near sighted and I wantch TV from bed. I needed something larger. The Sony XRB 27" and 25" both exceeded my price limit or it was just there. Then I came across the Zenith IQB27FW. It seemed quite nice, my parents were telling me not to buy it, but I did. I was surprised with the quality, here's what I found:

There aren't many rivals to Sony in the flat-screen area. Zenith has bvravely entered. The Zeniths compared to the Sonys are much cheaper in price. I tested the TV out in the store, everything seemed to work smoothly. $800 compared to $700 and up for smaller sized Sony XBRs was a great value. It's pretty hard to find such a large flat-screen TV for such a price. The TV also came with warranty included, that was quite nice to have.
Installation and setup is a breeze. All the wires go in smoothly and the instructions are staright forward. Just about anyone can install this TV. It's as EZ as 1-2-3.
Believe it or not. The quality on this TV is very good. It is very solid, and pretty much unbreakable. The screen is also not very easily scratched, or at least I found it that way. The video and sound are both pretty good. I have hit the TV with a softball once while throwing one up in my room, it didn't damage the TV at all. The quality VS. price ratio is great! This is a pretty high quality TV.
The video quality is great, and just as I expected. The colors are not nearly as great as that of Sony, but it is still superior to any other TVs (as in normal screen) in its price range. The colors in the screen are still vast and high quality. The pixels are very well blended too, it adds a much smoother affect to the video. My DVD player hooked up very easily to the TV, and the DVD quality was still great! MY DVD is a Sony and the TV is a Zenith, but they make a great duo! I love watching DVDs on my TV, it is just great!!!!
The sound quality is pretty good. It does compare pretty well with other TVs in its class. Sony has better speakers in their high-quality TVs. They are souped up with Dolby Digital speakers. Those speakers provide magnificent that surrounds the room. Zenith does NOT compare at that level. Their speakers are pretty good though, the sound is never fuzzy or anything, it is pretty good for all normal users who are looking for a pretty good and economical TV(in its class).
Setup and Navigation:
I love navigating through the system with this TV. It is easier than Sony. It is easy for all average users that aren't real experts on TVs or electronics.
We once blew a fuse in our house. This TV was greatly affected from it. We took it in to be repaired. Due to the lacking of Zenith availablility and hard-to-find parts, repairing this TV was very expensive. The warranty paid for it though, but if the warranty expires, you may have large bills when repairing this TV.
The TV is also pretty heavy for its size. Moving it from room to room can give you a pretty bad back ache.
This is a very good quality TV. The video is amazing, and the quality is pretty good. The Zenith TVs are much cheaper than Sony, and still provide amazing quality. The IQB27FW does not outperform the Sony XBR TVs, but it still is amazing for its price I think. I would recommend this TV. It is a "Best Buy" I think. If you're looking a step ahead, go for Sony. But if you don't want to spend a huge sum of money on a non-projection TV, then buy the Zenith. It's a great TV!
