Pros: Fairly good bread maker initially
Cons: Cheap construction of some components
Initially I was satisfied with the Zojirushi X20, but after approximately 18 months of ownership I wish I had made another choice. I make only whole grain bread, and the machine tends to make loaves that are significantly larger on one end, apparently a result of uneven mixing by the paddles. Much more serious is the cheap bread pan supplied with the unit. It warps and begins to leak water making a brown mess under the machine and making it impossible to accurately calculate the amount of water to use in recipes. A call to Zojirushi yielded the information that a new pan is $55 plus shipping. This means you can figure about a $1 addition to each loaf of bread you bake for replacement of the cheap pan. I am looking at other brands as I am unwilling to purchase a new pan every 18 months and pay 4 to 5X what it is worth.
