| aleximor's Full Review: iRiver H320 (20 GB) MP3 Player |
The H320 has a nice solid feel, which is reassuring. I am not sure how durable the hard disc would be if subjected to the kind of jolting while in operation which portable CD players are designed to withstand. I am always careful to handle the machine very gently whenever it is switched on.
Unlike some reviewers, I have had no difficulty using the iRiver with my computer (Windows XP Home). Loading it with MP3 files is a breeze.
The sound quality is excellent - really quite a surprise, considering MP3 files are only about one tenth of the size of the WAV files from which they are produced.
I have never been able to use earbuds - they always fall out. But with a pair of good-quality noise-cancelling headphones, the H320 is the ideal companion for a long flight.
The ability to make recordings of almost unlimited length is a real asset. My only reservation is that the level indicator does not function when in record mode, so setting the level is a matter of trial and error. Still, it's much better than having compulsory autolevel control, although that is available if you want it.
The H320 is my first MP3 player, and I bought it virtually blind over the Internet. Now over the somewhat exasperating familiarisation process, I realise I scored a bullseye, and I shall be quite happy for it to be my only MP3 player, at least for the foreseeable future.
