| mattocatl's Full Review: iRiver iFP-390T (256 MB) MP3 Player |
This flash player is for people who want the lightest unit possible. Have you ever tried jogging with a mega-expensive, heavy, hard disk spinning, Ipod? The answer is: No!,Don't do it! With this Iriver flash player, you can download music from the internet, you will have to convert it into Mp-3 format which takes all of two minutes.
If you want what I was looking for: A light, ultra portable player for jogging and drowning out the noise pollution of NYC subway commutes, this thing is perfect. I also love the "stick" which allows you to scan through your music and adjust the volume at the same place. This is perfect for adjusting the volume, changing tracks through your clothes if you keep the player in a shirt/jacket pocket. This also serves well the purpose of not showing everyone on the NYC subway what you have and potentially avoiding getting jumped for your expensive mp-3 player..hey, better to be safe than sorry!
One possible drawback to this player is the headphones which are cheap and not well suited for this fine little player. I use Etymotic headphones anyway and so it really didn't matter much to me. Best Buy has ten dollar Sony headphones which replace the Iriver's nicely.
I know Epinions wants a full, detailed review of all the features and facts, etc, etc. The realities of my time are such that I am unwilling and unable to produce such a work. Besides, the basic product specifications are listed above.
I'll keep it simple: If you want the lightest, highest rated (CNET), MP-3 player that will play about three CD's worth of music, go for this one. If you want to carry around a Ipod with it's spinning/skipping hard disk then just save $400 bucks and buy a regular portable cd player as there is no convenience or value add to an Ipod except that you won't have to carry around all your CD's.. but really, who listens to that much music all at once anyway? Plus, you whip out a $400 Ipod on the subway late at night.. well, it could get ugly.
