Pros: Very good sound with other earphones. Body seems reasonably well made.
Cons: Virtually incomprehensible menu system. Poor batteries that can't be replaced for months.

This player has very good sound for a portable, using some Koss earphones. That's about the only plus. It can only be controlled by a remote which has the very worst menu system of any computer or gadget I have ever owned (which is plenty). So, you have to always have the remote dangling from your player.
It takes a special rechargeable set of 2 batteries which were hardly used and died sitting on the shelf for a few months, and couldn't be recharged. The only place I could find the batteries for sale after searching all over creation on the web in February, 2006 is IRiver's own site which says that the batteries are out of stock until mid-2006.
Like so many so-called help sites, you are driven through tons of screens to get answers to your questions, to prevent you from sending them an email.
If this player's complexity is representative of IRiver's menu system approach, together with the poor support, I'd never buy another IRiver product.
