Pros: Bluetooth, good capacity for storing files and photos, can sync with Outlook, colour screen
Cons: Unreliable, customer service stinks, no wifi, dead end OS, rubbish battery life, not a mobile
I had a Vx for about 4 years and replaced it with a Tungsten T5 in Feb 2005. This was despite reading a number of reviews that described the hum some T5s reputedly make.
I have now owned the T5 for 15 months & I can categorically say that it is junk. Much as I hate to say it, the Palm OS is doomed to follow Psion into the PDA techno sunset.
BUT. I couldn't use it for the first 2 months because the charger was faulty. Palm made me jump through hoops (send the charger back for testing etc) before sending me a replacement charger that didn't include a sync cable so essentially I couldn't use the T5 for 2 months. In the end I had to buy a new sync cable and travel charger. Palm's customer service stinks.
BUT. The off button doesn't always work. This means that I have to be very careful to make sure that the device has turned itself off or else it runs down completely. If it won't turn off it has to be reset - not time consuming but a bore. It crashes at least once a week for whatever other reason so I have to reset it about twice a week. To compound this it deleted 4 years worth of diary (calendar to my US friends) entries & I didn't realise it had done this until after syncing with my PC so the data was lost for ever.
So I now sync my Palm with Outlook & there is no reason to get Palm OS anymore.
