Raid Ant & Roach Killer, Lemon Scent. Give your roaches a proper introduction.
Written: Apr 04 '13
Pros:Kills on contact like advertised, lemon smell is pleasant. Not too pricey.
Cons:Wasn't that good as a long term killing surface spray.
The Bottom Line: If you want a good instant roach killer (besides the trusty size 10 flip-flop) that will last for awhile, this is a great product.
Apartment living can be...an expedition into entomology sometimes. You know, move into an apartment, find an assortment of different bugs. The only bugs we really had a problem with were roaches. Not the giant kind, but the mid-side German cockroaches and another tiny variety that I don't know the name of.
Our roach problem We would turn on the light in the kitchen and a few would scatter across the benches, behind the fridge, into cupboards. Ugh, it was a nightmare. The only thing I hate worse than roaches are politicians! (It's up to you which is which). We laid out raid bait traps for them in cupboards and along runners but the problem just got worse. We had free pest control where we live, and I can see why. They don't do anything except use watered down formula along the cupboard bases and it kills nothing. The cure... We ended up buying the 2x pack of Raid Ant & Roach Spray (Lemon Scent) from Walmart for under $10 and have used it ever since. That was several months ago now. The cans are quite large, each can holds a 17.5oz capacity which is what we wanted, as we could see we were going to use A LOT of it! Amazon.com also have this as well as most retail stores. They come packaged in heat-shrink plastic and are easy to take out. I have always trusted Raid sprays and this one is no exception. One can stays in the kitchen and the other is on-call in the bathroom. Very effective spray This spray virtually kills all roaches on contact with no exceptions. Once sprayed, they don't run far before they push up the daisies. When I turn the kitchen light on and see one, I give it a quick burst of Raid from 2 to 3 feet distance away and the spray arc takes care of them. It doesn't have the extreme spray arc of foggers and other flying insect sprays, but it's good enough for cockroaches. No mess when you spray It has no annoying lid to remove, just a large spray tab on the top, just press down and you're napalming in no time! The front cover is designed to keep your fingers from getting spray on them. Much nicer than annoying little spray buttons that fall off and get your fingers wet! Just be sure to not spray too close to the insect, or else you will dampen the surface it's walking on with too much bug spray, that's why 2-3 feet is a fair distance for the spray droplets to go. We've even used it on the occasional large ant we find wandering haplessly across our carpet, it makes short work of them too. Pleasant smelling I like the lemon scent better than the other varieties of spray, as they can be quite irritating to the nose, often having to open windows to vent the nasty smell. Not so with Raid Lemon Scent. This has a strong scent of lemon albeit artificial with a slight chemical undertone. It will never smell like fresh lemons but it's a vast improvement to straight-up napalm! It will even keep your room smelling fresh for a short time. Just remember not to breathe the pleasant lemon scent too much, it is still poison, you know! Surface spray use not as effective we found This spray, as well as a contact killer (no, not contract killer) can also be applied to surfaces, walls, ceilings, runners etc, thus having the ability to keep killing roaches for up to 4 weeks as the can advertises. I found that was not the case with this product. We would spray a wall and watch roaches merrily going about their business without a hint of them being in any distress at all. Then they would meet Mr. Flip-flop, size 10. So I would disagree with the long-term killing power when used as a surface spray. All we use it for is contact only and it works great for that. Works for us Since using Raid Ant & Roach Spray Lemon Scent we have a lot fewer roaches now, maybe just the odd one now and then but that's all. I feel with this spray (and a home remedy or 2) we have finally won the war on roaches in our apartment! I very much recommend this for all you roach haters out there!
