| fransbebe's Full Review: BD's Mongolian Barbeque |
It is time again for another Maryland Restaurant review.. This will be the second in a long series of tasty reviews.. I have a feeling that I am going to gain a few unwanted pounds over the next couple weeks trying all these new restaurants, but for those of you fellow epinion writers that don’t know me too well let me give you some background to this review and also a glimpse into my life..
I currently am involved in a long distance relationship, my boyfriend lives in Maryland while I live in Pennsylvania, and we commute on the weekends.. This gives me a chance to experience Bethesda, Maryland restaurants and surrounding areas. In Bethesda alone there are over 150 restaurants to choose from, and now you can see how I have my work cut out for me.
My second review is on BD’s Mongolian Barbque a unique restaurant with many things to offer. I will break the restaurant into categories because I seem to have the best luck with organization in a review when I follow this procedure..
THE DECOR
To me this is one of their least strong points, because I feel the decor is bland.. After leaving this establishment you can’t really remember what it looks like in the inside.. The sign that hangs on the front of the building is very noticeable, but that is about the only thing the decorator of this restaurant has going for them.. There is a few pieces of interesting artwork hung throughout, but nothing too spectacular..
THE FOOD
This restaurant is not a meat and potatoes joint. I recommend a picky eater does not try this establishment.. Some people may not agree because its a buffet and you can choose your toppings and meat, but I am talking from personal experience.. My father and sister dislike any green veggies, rice, and tortillas.. I my opinion that is what makes the meal delicious.. If they ate here they would have a bowl of bland beef .. I thoroughly love the food at BD’s because you can mix and match things that you like.. Lets start at the beginning of the buffet. They first offer a soup and salad bar, but don’t fill up on these goodies because your in for a treat. The first step is to grab a bowl and slowly turn the corner to where the meats are located. You are immediately delighted to see the choices,
because BD’s offers all these raw delights such as fish, beef, turkey, chicken, and seafood. I willing choose chicken to feed my growling belly. We move further up the line to pick our veggies and noodles.. These choices are standard such as onions, peppers etc.. After filling our bowls with the meat and veggies its time to move forward to the sauces.. Here is where it gets fun, because you add all the flavors to your dish. They offer barbeque sauce, oils, peanut sauce, and all other assortments of flavors. Next on our journey we see the seasonings and I mean almost every flavor you can imagine. My mouth is watering just thinking of the food at BD’s . So here I am with my chicken,
noodles, onions, barbeque sauce, salt , pepper, and garlic powder and now what do I do......?
THE SERVICE AND PRICE
Next, we move to the grill area where we’ll watch are raw mess made into a delicious meal. Once here, we’ll hand our creation to the staff and they will slice and dice it, while
making you laugh. These grillmen not only cook your food to perfection, but they also entertain you in the process. If you want to tip these gentlemen feel free, but remember
this if you decide to, they’ll make you hit their large gong hanging on the wall. Which is a little embarrassing for some people. Their staff was polite, funny, and also fast. Our table waiter brought us tortillas and rice to eat with our meal and he too was polite and fast. The price is very reasonable at $11.99 all you can eat.. They also offer lunch specials at half the cost.
OVERALL
This is a unique dining experience that shouldn’t be missed unless your a very picky eater in which case you might want to try one of the other restaurants I am reviewing. I highly
recommend this be on your agenda when you visit the
beautiful Bethesda, Maryland..
