Baskin Robbins is an ice cream lovers dream. It was established in 1945 and it has nearly 5,000 locations worldwide. In its 55 years of existence, Baskin Robbins has created nearly 1,000 different flavors of ice cream.
The number one appeal of Baskin Robbins is, of course, the large selection of ice cream flavors. Some flavors are ordinary, but others are exotic and interesting. There is a flavor to suit anyone's taste. From coffee flavor, to mint, to bubblegum, to various fruit flavor combinations, a consumer will find something he/she likes at Baskin Robbins.
Baskin Robbins claims it has 31 flavors, but there's always more than that. The "31 flavors" concept was meant to represent one flavor for each day of the month. In reality, they usually have around 40 selections. Each store typically has three freezers with 10 to 15 choices in each one.
The number one negative aspect to baskin Robbins is the high prices. They do offer a great selection of flavorful ice cream, but the prices are steep. Is a single dip cone really worth $2.29? Is a three- dip sundae worth nearly $4.00? Because of the high prices, I usually don't bother going to Baskin Robbins unless I have a discount coupon. Also, I really wish they would drop the premium price that they charge for French Vanilla and Chocolate Fudge. For as long as I can remember, these two flavors have always carried a premium price, which is usually around 10% higher than the other flavors. If these two styles really cost that much more to produce, then I would suggest just adding a few cents to the cost of all the different flavors, so that the prices would be uniform.
The inside of a Baskin Robbins store is very small, with seating for only about 10 to 15 guests. In the more crowded locations, I have sometimes been forced to stand while I ate my ice cream, because the seats were all taken. It doesn't usually take that long to get a seat, though, because ice cream cones don't take that long to eat and, therefore, the seats become vacant pretty quickly.
Ice cream cones are the most popular item served at Baskin Robbins, but they do have other items as well. They serve sundaes, ice cream pies, cakes, frozen yogurt, shakes, and a few large ice cream treats. Again, the prices are high, so make sure you have plenty of money on hand.
Baskin Robbins does a good job supporting communities. It often sponsors activities for children, like little league baseball; and it also helps with charitable events and fund- raising functions. This concern for social issues has given Baskin Robbins a favorable image in most cities due to its active, socially responsible management philosophy.
Baskin Robbins offer a great selection of high- quality, flavorful ice cream. Often, it is difficult to decide on a flavor when there are so many to choose from. If only they could control their pricing a little better, they would increase sales and have an even greater following than they do now. But baskin Robbins will always have its loyal followers; those people who will pay any price and drive any distance for the great taste of quality ice cream.
