| MARIEROY's Full Review: Boston Market |
I actually enjoy what some may consider a “fast food” restaurant. Mainly because when I eat at Boston Market, I don’t feel as if I’m eating “fast food.” In fact I feel as if I’m getting a good value for my money. My husband feels the same way. We know we aren’t going to have to pay an arm and a leg for a fairly decent meal.
For instance, tonight he came home late--his high school tennis team had played a match and won, which means they’re undefeated in the conference, with only one match to go and assures them of at least a share of the first place title. So he was in a pretty good mood.
And since I’d also been out most of the day, nothing was prepared. I didn’t feel like eating anything really heavy, nor did I want “fast food” type food. No McNuggets or greasy French fries. I suggested Boston Market. Something quick.
I usually order the Side Item Meal, which is basically three choices from their “side” dishes. Tonight I chose the macaroni and cheese, mashed sweet potato, hot cinnamon sliced apples, all of which comes with a piece of cornbread for $3.99. Other selections available from these side dishes are herbed sweet corn, savory stuffing, garlic dill new potatoes, garden fresh coleslaw, and steamed vegetable medley. This selection does vary with different locations.
My husband usually orders from the sandwich menu the Chicken Carver combo. This sandwich includes besides the pieces of chicken, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and creamy Dijon dressing. The combo also includes one choice from the side items—he ordered the mashed potatoes and gravy--and a drink all for $5.48.
Other selections from the sandwich menu are Meatloaf Carver, Turkey Carver, Ham Carver, and BBQ Chicken Carver.
There are individual meals and family meals. You can buy a meal for six, which would include two chickens or meatloaves; approx. 2 lbs of Turkey or Ham, six large side items and six cornbreads for a total of $28.49, or $4.75 per person.
You can order A la Carte, which could either be a whole rotisserie chicken, or hand-carved turkey, or hand-carved ham, or a whole meatloaf for $6.49.
Salad selection is somewhat limited--the choices are either Caesar or chicken salad from 3.50 to 4.79.
The kids menu provides a Mac & cheese for 1.99; or kid size servings of the chicken, turkey, ham or meatloaf for 2.49. This includes a soft drink, a side item, and cornbread.
Cookies, brownies, and pies make up the dessert menu.
All in all I don’t think there is a better place where you can find good food especially for the value. Although based on another review here, if you are calorie conscious, a careful selection is required. Also as far as vegetarians, although the selection is limited, if you stick with some of the side dishes, and salads there should be no problem.
Sure I know it’s not home cooking, but it does come fairly close, especially at the end of a long day when nothing is prepared, and you don’t want to eat “fast, tasteless" food
