The other day on my way home from work, my children called and asked me if I wanted something from Burger King. Initially, I told them no, thank you. Then after a little more conversation with them, I said okay get me a chicken sandwich, that way I would not have to cook dinner when I got home from work, whew!
When I arrived home from work my dinner was not quite there. So I got the plates down from the cupboard and the table set. About 10 minutes later, dinner arrived.
I began taking the sandwiches out of the bags and putting them on the plates. I was surprised to find that they had put the French fries in a separate bag from the sandwiches. A lot of fast food restaurants put the sandwiches in the bag and then cover them with the French fries. It is frustrating when you try to take your sandwich out and the French fries fall to the bottom of the bag. Simple things make me happy.
We ordered from a Burger King that is about 10 minutes from our house. My children were in the area and it was the easiest one to get in and out of fast. This is a fairly new Burger King and it shares its space with Baskin Robbins and a small gas station. I have been there a few times and it never seems to be too busy.
The restaurant is fairly new, I would say about 2 years new. But, it looks like it has been there for years. The few times that I have been, the restaurant it has been a little dirty and tables needed to be cleaned.
They have a nice play structure for the children that includes balls to jump in, tunnels and slides. It is an indoor play structure and makes for rainy day fun. The play structure takes up the majority of the restaurant and, I believe, makes the restaurant dark and gloomy.
MENU
I think that most people are pretty familiar with the Burger King Restaurant and their menu. But for those who are not:
Burger Kings has a 99 cent menu for more affordable meals. Burger King's 99 Cent Menu ~ There are only two hamburgers on the 99 cent menu and they are the Bacon Cheeseburger and the Sourdough Burger. They also have French fries, baked potatoes, garden salads, chili, onion rings, 5 piece chicken tenders, and a regular size drink. A person cold make a meal for themselves for just under $ 3.00.
Burger King also has value meals. These are meals that come with a drink, sandwich and usually French fries. The prices of the meal vary on whether you choose a hamburger, chicken sandwich or chicken tenders. The most I have had to pay for a value meal is just under $5.00 for a value meal.
Burger King has a variety of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, broiled chicken sandwiches, fried chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, breaded fish sandwich and salads.
They also offer a small variety of desserts from pies to cookies to shakes.
THE FOOD
Burger Kings is known for their flame broiled foods not fried burgers, like most fast food restaurants. My husband had two small hamburgers. They came with ketchup, mustard and a pickle. The flame broiled taste made the burger taste like it just came off the barbeque. He enjoyed it, but could have eaten a little more.
The few times that I have eaten at Burger Kings, I have always told myself that I would not be returning. I usually eat there about once a year. Why? There is not much on the menu for me to eat. I am not a big meat fan, so I am forced to eat their chicken or salads.
The chicken sandwich that I ordered this evening was a dry sandwich with wilty lettuce. I had to add ketchup to give it some viable taste. Our French fries were cold and a lot of them were stuck together, with little or no taste.
OVERALL
I am not impressed with the KING. To be fair, I am not impressed with McDonalds either. I think you would have to enjoy the taste of quickly produced production line burgers or chicken to enjoy Burger King. If you are in a hurry and all the time you have to eat is grabbing something "fast", then Burger King is okay.
