The first time I ever ate at Denny's was a couple of weeks ago. I walked in the door and the first thing that I saw was a certificate on the wall stating that at the time of their last inspection, they had a 98.5% sanitation rating. I remember thinking "What about that other 1.5%? Nah, that's a pretty good rating." Famous last words.
I know that I can't make judgements about a chain of restaurants based on one visit, but my experience made me think twice about another visit, so maybe it will influence someone else.
It was about 3am when my friends and I got there. My boyfriend ordered something and requested soup with it. The waitress said "Oh, you don't want the soup. It's been sitting out all day." He didn't get the soup. At least this waitress was nice enough to tell him.
I was pretty hungry, and I love breakfast food at 3am. So what did I order? Gravy and biscuits with bacon and sausage links. The orders were brought out and we all ate our food. It didn't taste bad at the time. I ate it with no second thoughts.
When I got back to my dorm room, all of a sudden it hit me. I spent a good part of the rest of the night in the bathroom nauseated. Thinking back, I'm sure the gravy had been sitting out all night too.
So I can't say that the restaurant is completely bad. I'm sure during the day it's fine, but if you're going to go at 3am, just try to order something that will have to be made fresh. Just thought I'd share my experience.
