| Dbbum's Full Review: Domino's Pizza |
With so many pizza restaurants floating around it can be difficult to find one that fits your every needs. Every company is different too. Some offer grand seating with waiters and expensive menus, while some feature a take-out window and poor customer service. Fortunately Domino's is a medium almost anyone can relate to, and has become my personal favorite when it comes to pizza chains.
Domino's has a wide variety of toppings, three different types of crusts, a side menu choked full of goodies, and even hoagie sandwiches. Like any up-to-date service, Domino's provides you with different pizza options: the Hawaiian, veggie, meatzza, and pepperoni feasts. Of create your own unique blend of toppings and crusts. No matter what your preferences are for a pizza, Domino's should be able to fulfill your needs. Although they don't offer a cheese stuffed crust pizza, which I could go for right about now.
There is a Domino's right down the street, so we usually pickup our order to save time and money (you gotta tip the delivery boys). If it's raining or no one is willing to go out for the night we'll get delivery and be lazy for a change. Delivery speed is extremely fast, and it helps to be so close to the store. On average it only takes 15 minutes from the time I hang-up until delivery. The pizza and side orders are always hot, but that's not always the case with the delivery person.
Quality Of Restaurants
It seems Domino's has updated in recent years, creating smaller stores and providing less seating. Typically most stores are designed for food basic food preparation, carry-out/delivery only. This means no 'restaurant' style where you can sit and eat your pizza like Marion's or LaRosa's. The store near us was redone last year, and looks fairly clean. You can stand at the counter and watch everything the workers are doing behind the counter. A really good feature to have, because some employees like to mess around with food.
Size & Price
There are three basic sizes: Medium, Large, Extra Large.
Medium 12" [$10.49 1 topping serves 1-2]
Large 14" [$11.99 1 topping serves 2-3]
X-Large 16" [1 topping serves 3-4]
Typically I order a medium or large classic hand tossed crust 1 topping pizza. This is enough to fill me and my housemate for the evening. If I'm really hungry I can almost down an entire medium cheese by myself. The crunchy thin crust is too thin for my tastes, reminds me of a local chain called Cassano's Pizza.
Toppings
Pepperoni
Italian Sausage
Ham, Bacon
Beef
Mushrooms
Peppers
Onions
Olives
Pineapple
Jalapenos
Extra Cheese
Anchovies
Most of the time I order a Pepperoni and Sausage or Beef combination. The pepperoni is not spicy or dripping with grease like some local chains sometimes are. The beef & sausage toppings are plentiful and evenly spread about, and about the size of a marble. Compared to Marion's Pizza, Domino's offers whole toppings and not shredded up meat that tends to fall off the sides. I've also ordered a beef/onion combination and found the onions to be gigantic in size. It's almost like eating a steak french fry, on your pizza. If you don't like onions that much, stick to plain cheese, cause there's a good chance your onions will overload every slice.
Side Menu
Breadsticks [$2.99 single order] Comes with 8 sticks and marinara sauce. Probably the best buy of all the side orders. They're hot, soft, and taste great with dipping sauce. They are even better with a pizza, but can be enjoyed solo.
Cheesy Bread [$3.99 single order] Basically the same as breadsticks, except the tops are covered in a thin hardened shell of mozzarella cheese. If you can afford the extra dollar for cheese have at it, but personally it's not worth it.
Cinna Stix [$3.99 single order] 8 sticks per order, comes with sweet icing. I never really bought into the idea of cinnamon breadsticks but I guess someone out there is willing to eat it with pizza. Not worth $4.00 but if you get sucked into the sweetness you'll be sorry, watch that bankroll disappear.
Dots [3.99 single order] Same as cinna stix, except you get 12 and they're shaped like a dot. If you have little hungry eyes running around the house, simply stock up on dots and 'dot' those eyes. Harr harr harr....
Buffalo Wings [$5.99 10 piece order] Never ordered buffalo wings from Domino's, but the pictures look delicious. Looks can be deceiving though...
Chicken Kickers [$5.99 10 piece order] I don't usually order these for myself because they're expensive, but I do steal them from my sister whenever we eat out. My only complaint is the kickers can be extremely hot (spicy hot) so it's best to keep a glass of milk nearby. You can choose between Ranch or Hot Sauce for dipping. Steer clear of hot sauce though... hot kickers hot sauce = heart burn.
If you've honestly never had Domino's Pizza before, you're really missing out. I'm a frequent customer at Domino's and whether I'm picking up a plain cheese pizza, or ordering delivery of 2 pizzas and breadsticks I've never been let down. Delivery is on time, pizza is always hot and fresh, most in-store employees have been friendly, and the price is just right. Some side menu items seem a bit expensive, but overall you can order anything from the menu and the total cost would be just right. Maybe even less than other popular chains for the exact same order!
Domino's is always sporting some type of deal: 2x Tuesday, buy one get one free, combo meals, and other discounts via coupons. Check your weekly advertisement packages, there's always a Domino's coupon inserted somewhere. And trust me those little things come in handy. Would you rather buy 2 pizzas for $23.98 or get them both for 11.99? I think you can see the difference... I recommend Domino's to any pizza lover. You can't say Domino's 'sucks' unless you try it first!
