Pros:delicious little sugar-filled treats, friendly staff, clean
Cons:unhealthy, sticky
The Bottom Line: It's great if you can afford the calories and if you have lots of napkins!
We recently made a road trip from our home in New York to New England. On our way, I decided that I had to use the...relief station. We saw a sign on the expressway for Dunkin Donuts, and I got off the exit in hopes to find a bathroom there.
You could only imagine how much the staff members hate it when people just use their bathrooms without buying something from the restaurant first. So - being the soft hearted person that I am - I decided to buy a dozen donuts from Dunkin Donuts - my apparent bathroom stop.
General Atmosphere
The Dunkin Donuts that I went to was spotless. I didnt see anything laying around on the floor and all the tables were clean. There werent many tables and chairs to sit at as many people dont dine in the restaurant. Most people usually stop by for some donuts and bring them home...that is...of course...if you dont eat them all in the car beforehand.
Ordering Process
Nobody is handed menus. The selection of donuts are on the wall next to the baskets of fresh donuts. The prices are posted on boards hanging down from the ceiling. Once you know what you want, you go up to the counter and order. It is a fast food restaurant so you dont have to wait for the donuts or coffee. They are already prepared.
The staff members were friendly and professional. They liked to joke around and were very patient in the donut-selecting process. The majority of the staff members seem to be young.
The Menu Selection
Dunkin Donuts is a breakfast place. Like Krispy Kreme or Starbucks, people stop by the restaurant for a lite breakfast and some coffee. I think thats a great day to start the day. The sugar from both the beverage and the donuts will wake you up and get you ready for the big meeting with the CEO.
Dunkin Donuts offers a huge amount of drinks - their specialty is coffee. A new beverage is available; its called the Coolatta. It is kind of like a Slushy with crushed ice in very, very thin bits. The flavors are lemonade, strawberry fruit and orange mango. There are also many types of coffees. Such coffees are available in caramel combinations, coffee Coolatta, iced coffee and vanilla coffee. There is also hot chocolate.
Donuts arent the only items available. There are also many bagels to select from such as blueberry, cinnamon, garlic, onion, plain and sesame. There are also breakfast sandwiches to choose from such as bacon and eggs, egg and cheese, and egg and ham. There are also other combinations with biscuits and croissants. Now for the donuts. The flavors include:
*chocolate
*blueberry
*glazed
*apple
*jelly
*lemon
*Boston kreme
*raspberry
*powdered
A Dozen Dunkin Donuts
The dozen donuts I ordered were half Boston kreme, and the other half glazed chocolate. They were presented in four rows of three in a box. The donuts werent the warmest off the shelf, but they were still good. The donuts were sweet but not too sweet that you couldnt eat one. They were very sticky, however, and the extra napkins really helped. A dozen donuts cost $3.49.
Conclusion
Dunkin Donuts is a great place to eat if youre in the mood for something sweet and not too filling. The only bad thing I could think of is that the food is very fatty and sticky. However, the positive aspects of Dunkin Donuts make me want to go there again such as the large selection of food, friendly staff, delicious donuts and fair prices. Happy donut eating!
