Pros: Prices are reasonable and ice cream is good.
Cons: Extreme long wait times for food, dessert, and the check. Not ideal for restless kids.
My wife and I have eaten at Friendlys for a few years now since we have 3 young children - age 8 and under. We went mostly because it was intended to be family friendly and the prices were reasonable.
We, however, always take into consideration the typical long wait times (already seated) and inconsistent service before we decided to go. We can pretty much guarantee that dinner, from start to finish, will take up at least a hour and a half to two hours each time, irregardless of the amount of diners in the restaurant.
Yesterday, however, was the final straw. It was a different restaurant from where we usually ate at and it was about a 2:30 start time for a late lunch. The restaurant was scarce.
Lunch, from start to finish, was probably 2 hours. The meals for the kids arrived finally with overcooked waffle fries, but mom and dad's food arrived when the kids were done or nearly done eating. We got the waffle fries replaced only because I took the plate and went all the way to the front to ask for it. The waiter came around very sporadically. Dessert took forever to arrive - by then, the kids were extremely restless. The mood of lunch changed from hungry and hopeful to disappointed, again, and irritable.
My wife and I agreed that Friendlys does not deserve our time and business. Eating out is supposed to be pleasurable.
