OK, OK, I am a little immature – I probably would have hopped around anyway. I have found that enjoying life makes me happier! I do enjoy going to International House of Pancakes (IHOP) though.
Today I ordered the Split Decision, which is really named well. I could not decide what I wanted the waitress was starting to look a little impatient. I normally know what I want, but today I could not decide. The Rooty Tutti enticed me –pancakes slathered with the fruit of my choice, the omelet choices were overwhelming, I wanted French toast, I wanted bacon, I wanted scrambled eggs, I wanted it all. The split decision was placed on the menu to accommodate me, I swear it was, they must have known I was going to be there today!
Picture It: Three slices of French Toast sprinkled lightly with powdered sugar, laid out with one slice flat, the other two arranged around it ½ slices piled two high accompanied by dripping butter! Scrambled eggs fixed perfectly- placed on top of the middle pieces. It was arranged deliciously and around the sides - slices of warm crispy bacon. I added the fresh hot coffee and I was ready to wake up and eat! I admit it I drooled when she put it in front of me! A few drops of boysenberry syrup on some of the French toast created just the mix I needed –although I usually like the French Toast just as it is served –it doesn’t even need the syrup!
My roommate ordered the Potato Pancakes. They delivered lightly browned deep-fried crispy potato ecstasy! She prefers them slathered with sour cream and then doused with the butter pecan syrup. I know it sounds a little weird but man, are they awesome! I prefer to get the potato pancakes with both sour cream and applesauce. I dip the chunk of potato pancake into the sour cream and them swipe it through the applesauce – This creates the best yumminess!
The atmosphere is conducive to a family restaurant; it has both booths and tables. It is very relaxing and open. The waitresses have always been friendly and very open to retrieving things I need, although they do bring the bill at the end.
The bill for today’s breakfast: Potato Pancakes, Split Decision, and a cup of coffee totaled out at $13.52 and a tip of $2.00 - I was out the door for under sixteen dollars. We were both was stuffed and we both had leftover for lunch. Definitely a little more expensive than McDonald’s but definitely a higher quality.
I realized while paying the bill that I would have gotten a new gold dollar (can’t spell the Native American name) if I had ordered the Rooty Tutti because they have a special right now. I mentioned this to my roommate. When the woman gave me my change as I paid the bill, she handed me a five, a gold dollar and the remainder of my change! I have now added it to my collection! Now that extra little service made me smile!
Unfortunately I ate too much because it was so good, I could not hop all the way back to the car! I did request a wheelbarrow from the waitress to allow my roommate to transport me to the car comfortably but the waitress could not accommodate! Maybe I will ask them to suggest it to the manager during a future visit!
I have never eaten anything here but breakfast although they have a very extensive menu. I can’t make recommendations about any meal items other than the breakfasts which are superb!
Here in Reisterstown, Maryland, they have two days a week that are senior days. The senior citizens receive an additional discount. The trade off for the rest of us is that they automatically add an 18% gratuity to your bill on those days. This works Ok for me, but I prefer to decide the tip based on quality of the waitresses service and normally leave anywhere between 15% and 20%. You will have to check your area for specials and discounts!
